Meet the JMP Leadship Team
Ken McLaughlin
Vice President & GM, Systems
Responsibilities
In the role of Vice President and General Manager of our Systems Segment, I am responsible for the overall strategy and execution of the Segment, which includes our Automation & Robotics, Automated Guided Vehicles (AGV) and Material Handling divisions. I lead a team of the passionate, customer-oriented individuals that thrive on building relationships and solving tough, challenging problems for our customers.
Background
Growing up on a farm, I’ve always had a passion for anything mechanical. I was drawn to engineering as a career to express that passion. I attended the University of Waterloo, where I obtained a Bachelors of Applied Science in Mechanical Engineering. I was first exposed to industrial automation as a co-op student, and I was hooked. Controls engineering, in particular, fascinated me as it was what brought machines and systems to life. I started at JMP right out of school, specializing in motion control systems. After leading that team within JMP, I founded JMP’s Automation and Robotics Division. From a handful of people with a diesel air compressor in our parking lot, the team has grown to be a world-renown automation provider in the Food, CPG and general industries markets. I’m also involved heavily with the Association for Advancing Automation (A3), and am on the Robotics Industries Board of Directors as well as Chair the Membership committee.
Personal
In my personal time, I enjoy spending time with my wife and three daughters. We have a passion for travel and the outdoors. I also am still a gear-head at heart, and have a love for anything with an engine, especially a two-stroke.
